SWFD lifeguards routinely plant the “No Swim” flag along the shoreline to mark areas where dangerous rip currents have formed. You ma…y also notice a pair of these flags along the shoreline, which typically signifies the width of the “danger zone.” When you see these flags, please, heed the warning and do not swim nearby. If you’re up for a challenge, stand on shore or at an elevated vantage point and see if you can identify the rip current based on where the flag is positioned. As always, if you have any questions, ask a lifeguard. They can help you identify the areas where it is safest to enjoy the Gulf waters.
